(3) Isolation function: A glass (acrylic) window should be used in front of the fume hood to separate the inside and outside of the fume hood. (4) Air supply function: The fume hood should have a channel or alternative device to inhale air from outside the fume hood when exhausting harmful gases. (5) Wind speed control function: In order to prevent harmful gases from escaping from the fume hood, the fume hood supplier will control the fume hood's suction speed according to the requirements of each experiment in the fume hood. The factors that determine the suction speed of the fume hood's air intake are: the heat generated by the experimental content and the relationship with the number of air changes. The main factors are the experimental content and the nature of the harmful substances. It is generally stipulated that the suction speed of generally non-toxic pollutants is 0.25-0.38m/s, the suction speed of toxic or dangerous harmful substances is 0.4-0.5m/s, the suction speed of highly toxic or slightly radioactive substances is 0.5-0.6m/s, the suction speed of gaseous substances is 0.5m/s, and the suction speed of granular substances is 1m/s. In order to ensure that the wind speed meets the requirements, the fume hood fan should have the necessary static pressure, that is, the friction resistance when the air passes through the ventilation duct. When determining the wind speed, attention should also be paid to the noise problem. When air flows through the pipe, the limit is 7-10m. If it exceeds 10m, noise will be generated. Usually, the noise limit value of the laboratory (indoor background noise level) is 70dB(A). Increasing the pipe cutting area will reduce the wind speed, which will also reduce the noise. Considering the cost and construction issues of the pipe, the power of the pipe and exhaust fan must be carefully selected. (6) Heat resistance and acid and alkali corrosion resistance: Some fume hoods need to be equipped with electric furnaces, and some experiments produce a large amount of acid, alkali and other toxic and harmful gases with strong corrosiveness. The table, lining, side panels and selected water nozzles and gas nozzles of the fume hood should have very strong anti-corrosion function.       III. Gas emission disposal of Fume Cupboards    The laboratory emits many toxic and acid-base corrosive gases, so the gas must be treated before being discharged into the atmosphere. The treatment method is as follows: A vertical acid mist tower is used for acidic gases; an optical catalytic purification box is used for toxic and organic gases. The two devices are installed at the end of the exhaust system: the vertical acid mist tower is located in the positive pressure section of the fan, and the optical catalytic purification box is located in the negative pressure section. After primary and secondary filtration, the air from the animal room is discharged directly into the atmosphere.
